Wonderful
Reading
The Shack by William P. Young is a wonderful
and enlightening book. It is the story of a father’s
loss of his small daughter and the personalization of
God (as a robust black woman), Jesus (as sort of a hippie
fix it man), and the Holy Ghost (as a sweet and loving
gardener). It is a wonderful story with enough fairy tale
qualities to teach our “inner child”. A kind
man named Dev gave me ths book and I have passed on copies
to several people.
Living
Buddha, Living Christ, by Thich Nhat Hanh is a book
on accepting the best of both Christian and Buddhist faith
and practicing compassion and kindness in al that we do.
His use of Christian scripture and commentaries to highlight
the beauty of Christianity is a joy to read. Rev. Dorothy
Franklin gave me this book to read and I am grateful to
her in sharing her faith in a way that was very easy for
me to understand.
We
have a lending library at the temple and hope to have
it ready for public use by mid May. Please check it out
the next time you are in the temple.
